The governors undertake many duties including attending meetings, helping out in school, fundraising, raising the profile of the school in the area, appointing new staff members and supporting parents and staff.  There are key areas that governors are assigned to review and improve which includes:

  • Chair of Governors (including setting agenda and summary reports for each formal Governing Body meeting)

  • Chair of Curriculum committee (including setting agenda and summary reports for each formal Governing Body meeting)

  • Chair of Resources committee (including setting agenda and summary reports for each formal Governing Body meeting)

  • Headteacher's Performance Management Committee

  • Responsibility for inducting new governors (including induction pack)

  • Review of Self Evaluation Summary and School Improvement Plan (Raise, Databooks and Inspection Dashboard)

  • Link governor to Special Educational Needs

  • Link governor to PE (including funding)

  • Review of School Brochure

  • Link governor to Pupil Premium

  • Link governor to Literacy

  • Link governor to Numeracy

  • Responsibility for review of attendance

  • Gathering views of children

  • Monitoring and arranging governor CPD

  • Responsibility for questionnaires

  • Responsibility for benchmarking

  • Link governor for safeguarding

  • Link governor for Health & Safety

  • Link governors for improving school environment/outdoor learning
