Nursery Curriculum

Here at Henry Bradley Nursery (Foundation Stage 1) we teach to the Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework which is continued through to Reception class (Foundation Stage 2). We teach children and support them in their learning throughout the 7 areas of development, Personal, social and emotional development, Physical development, Communication and language, Literacy, Mathematics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.

Our curriculum is focussed on the interests of individual children which lead our topics of work through a well-resourced and rich learning environment both indoor and outdoor. As research has shown, children in the early years learn best though play and unrestricted access to both indoor and outdoor learning environments. For this reason, we operate a ‘free-flow’ system between the areas and indoor/outdoor environments for the majority of each session regardless of the weather. We fully equipped our children for playing outdoors whatever the weather if they so choose to.

Our experienced and skilful staff work carefully with individuals and small groups to facilitate learning in everyday situations which will promote good learning practice, social skills and resilience for their future.

Our termly and weekly plans can be seen on our planning wall inside nursery – please feel free to read them.
