Nursery Starters 2025
Nursery Transition
We know that starting Nursery can be daunting for you and your child. At Henry Bradley Nursery Infant School, we work closely with our parents to ensure this is a smooth process through a gradual approach.
For those children starting in our Nursery it is a huge step, and an important part of their learning journey. Before children start with us, our Nursery staff offer home visits/setting visits. This is the perfect opportunity for positive relationships to be established in the comfort of your child's familiar environment
We do lots to try and make the transition as seamless as possible.
These are below;
Step 1 -Parent Information Session
We will be holding an information meeting for adults on Wednesday 4th June 4:30-5:30pm and Friday 6th June 9:15-10:15. At these sessions we will discuss the Nursery curriculum, the daily routine, uniform, distribute forms, arrange a home visit, allocate you an hour transition visit and explain starting arrangements for September. You will also have the opportunity to look around the Nursery setting and meet the staff. There are 2 times to choose from to hopefully accommodate as many of you as possible. You DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND BOTH, please choose one.
Step 2- Invitation to Class Dojo- Week commencing 9th June
You will be invited via your email address/phone number to our Class Dojo system. We use this for communication purposes and to share photos of your child’s successes and day with you. Keep a look out for this, the invites can sometimes go to spam folders.
Step 3-Transition visit from the staff to your child
If your child is already at a setting, a member of staff will arrange with the setting to visit them there so they can see them in their familiar environment, as well as speaking to the setting staff.
Step 4- Home visit from the staff to you and your child
We would love to come and see you and your child in your home. This enables us to see your child at home with you and allows you to have a private discussion about your child within your own environment.
Step 5- 1st Stay and Play Session
We are holding a stay and play session in Nursery. We would like to invite you and your child to visit Nursery on Wednesday 18th June 3:30-4:30 to meet the staff, their new classmates and have a play in their new setting. This will also be an open day so if you know anybody who is looking for a Nursery place, please let them know so they can pop along to see us.
Step 6- 2nd Stay and Play Session
We are holding a second stay and play session in Nursery. This is on the 1st of July from
1-3pm. Feel free to pop in between these times. You will be more than welcome!
Step 7-1 hour nursery visit- Week Commencing 14th July
We would like to invite you to bring your child to join us in nursery for an hour transition session. If your child will not settle, please do not worry, of course you can stay with them.
The Nursery teacher will give you your specific date at the parent session.
FINAL STEP -Staggered start- Week commencing 8th September
We choose staggered starts for nursery to allow the children to start in small groups so that more time can be spent with each child to support them settling in. If a later start will cause you an issue, please let us know and we will do our best to give them an earlier start.
These events are designed to support you and your child to make the transition to nursery as easy as possible. We are not saying there won't be tears, however I can assure you we will look after them, and it will get easier!
