Design and Technology
Design and Technology
Intent
At Henry Bradley we believe that all children are capable of being designers. We believe they have the ability to design, make and innovate using and developing skills and technologies available to them. Design and technology develops children’s skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food. It encourages children's creativity and encourages them to think about important issues.
Implementation
The Design and Technology Curriculum at Henry Bradley School has been carefully planned to help children understand the history of design and how technology has developed through the years and its effect on our everyday lives; to use their own knowledge and experience to design and make products and to innovate through testing, evaluation and improvements; and to develop key practical skills to create actual products.
Our threshold concepts under pin our teaching and learning throughout Design and Technology.
These are;
i) Master practical skills
ii) Design, make, evaluate and improve-Our DT moto is THINK-MAKE-BREAK-REPEAT
iii) Take inspiration from design throughout history
