Reception Transition Information September 2026
We are delighted that your child has been offered a place at our school and look forward to welcoming you and your little treasure to the Henry Bradley family in the coming months.
Henry Bradley Nursery Infant School is a small, nurturing setting that prides itself on providing excellent care and education for children aged 3–7 years. Our school includes a nursery, four Key Stage 1 classes, and two Reception classes.
All of our classes are named after animals, with our Reception classes known as Hedgehog Class and Squirrel Class.
You will find out which class your child has been allocated at the parent information session. We encourage all families to attend wherever possible; however, if you are unable to do so, we will inform you of your child’s class via our communication system, ClassDojo, or by email.
We understand that starting school is a significant milestone for both you and your child. With this in mind, we have planned a number of transition events to support your child and help make the move into school as smooth and welcoming as possible.
Transition Events
2nd May -School open day- 9:30-12pm- This event is open to all prospective families and is not specific to new starters. However, it will provide you and your child with an additional opportunity to visit the school and become familiar with their new classroom.
12th May -Welcome party 3:30-4:30pm-This event is to officially welcome you to Henry Bradley. This is the first time that your child can meet the children they will be with in the year group and you can meet the parents.
Week commencing 8th June- DOJO System set up- Your child’s new class will be set up on our school communication system, ClassDojo. This will be done using the phone number you have provided. You will receive a text message inviting you to set up your account.
If you experience any difficulties, please speak to a member of staff at the information session and we will be happy to help. We will use ClassDojo to share photographs of staff, classrooms, and important information. On your child’s first day, we will also post photos so you can share in this special moment. ClassDojo will continue to be used to communicate with you throughout your child’s time with us.
18th June 9:15-10:15am & 3:30-4:30pm (ALL PARENTS WELCOME INCLUDING OUR CURRENT NURSERY CHILDREN) Parent information sessions to give you information about what to expect as your child starts our school. This session will give you information about the organisation of your child’s day, uniform and other things that they may need, it will also give you opportunity to meet the staff and you will be told your child’s class at this event. You only need to attend one of these sessions, the content will be the same.
22nd June – Stay and Play (3:30–4:30pm)
This session is for children who are new to our school (this does not include Henry Bradley Nursery children, unless you feel that they need an additional session or you are unable to attend one of the other sessions.)
Children are welcome to attend with a parent or carer after the school day has finished. This will give them the opportunity to explore their new setting and meet staff in a small, calm, and supportive environment.
Refreshments will be available, and we look forward to welcoming you and helping you feel at home with us.
From 22nd June onwards – Home visits/setting visits
These visits are for children who are new to the setting only (this does not include Henry Bradley Nursery children).
The visits are optional; however, we feel they help children to settle more quickly and support the development of strong relationships between families and staff.
We will organise these visits with you during the parent information session.
