Nursery Starters 2024
Nursery Transition
Starting Nursery can be daunting for all involved. At Henry Bradley Nursery Infant School, we work closely with our parents to ensure this is a smooth process through a gradual approach.
For those children starting in our Nursery it is a huge step, and an important part of their learning journey. Before children start with us, our Nursery staff offer home visits/setting visits in This is the perfect opportunity for positive relationships to be established in the comfort of your child's familiar environment
Step 1:
Parent Information Session
We will be holding information meetings for adults on
Tuesday 18th June 5-6pm OR Wednesday 19th June 9:15-10:15
At these sessions we will discuss with you the Nursery curriculum, the daily routine, uniform, distribute forms and explain starting arrangements for September. You will also have the opportunity to look around the Nursery setting, meet some of the staff and ask any questions she may have.
You only need to attend ONE session
Step 2:
Transition visit from the staff to your child
If your child is already at a setting, a member of staff will arrange with the setting to visit them there so they can see them in their familiar environment. If your child does not attend a setting, a home visit from the staff is also available to you to start building the relationship with you and your child. This is optional, but we believe this supports transition well. We will discuss this with you at the information session.
Step 3:
Stay and Play Session 2nd July (between 1-3pm)
We are holding a stay and play session in Nursery. We would like to invite you and your child to visit Nursery on to meet the staff, some of their new classmates and have a play in their new setting.
Step 4
1 hour nursery visit- Week Commencing 8th July
We would like to invite you to bring your child to join us in nursery for an hour transition session. If your child will not settle, please do not worry, of course you can stay with them.
The nursery teacher will give you your specific date at the parent session.
These events are designed to support you and your child to make the transition to nursery as easy as possible. We are not saying there won't be tears, however I can assure you we will look after them, and it will get easier!
Step 5
Staggered start- Week commencing 9th September
We choose staggered starts for nursery to allow the children to start in small groups so that more time can be spent with each child to support them settling in. If a later start will cause you an issue, please let us know and we will do our best to give them an earlier start.
